Quality Assurance & Quality Control Programme

We have adopted very strict quality control measures in construction, with our on-site and technical support staff ensuring desired quality parameters at all stages of projects by perpetual monitoring .
Material testing laboratories are set up in every site and tests are conducted on aggregates. (Viz., sieve analysis, Water content test etc.) as well as concrete. This determined and purposeful approach has evolved in to a day-to-day strategy in strict quality adherence measures.

For Cement Concrete - Plain and Reinforced. During 1995-2000 and since, we have placed in position at various projects over 200,000 Cu.M of RCC. We have established and maintained quality control for different grades of work and materials as required to assure compliance with contract and quality requirements.

Our quality control operation includes the following :

Admixture : Type, quantity and other properties that effect strength & workability of concrete

Aggregate : Physical and chemical properties, grading, moisture contents and impurities test

Water : Impurities test

Cement : Tests to satisfy relevant IS specifications

Formwork : Material, lines, elevators, surface finish, bracing, ties and adequacy of form

Reinforcement : Shapes, length of laps, clearance such as cover to main reinforcement, chairs and separators etc.

Batching and mixing is selected on types and capacity of plant, concrete mixer and transportation equipment etc.

Placement and compaction :

Rate of pouring concrete, weather limitation, time interval between mixing and placing and between two successive lifts, cleaning and preparation of surface on which concrete is to be placed and application of mortar slurry for proper bond, prevention of cold joints, types of chutes and conveyance etc.

Number of vibrations their prime mover and frequency, hand spreading, rodding and tamping. Also taken random samples of concrete cubes at site to ensure compressive strength for 7 days/28 days.

Finishes and curing :

To conduct repairs to surface defects, screening, floating, steel trowelling and brooming are done under strict inspection controls. Curing is done to the required length of time monitored by our engineers.

All the above operation are done in accordance with IS 456. All washing , screening of aggregtes are carried out by approved means with automated machinery and to ensure compliance with the specifications.

The proportioning of ingredients of concrete are made in following two methods.

  • Preliminary tests by designing the concrete mix i.e., design mix concrete and conducting laboratory tests for concrete cubes to ascertain compressive tests for 7 days to 28 days.
  • If without preliminary tests, we adopt a nominal concrete mix, i.e., nominal mix concrete of volume.

Finally some important criteria are observed to achieve the durability and workability necessary to the job.
  • The quantity of water should be kept at the lowest possible level and slump taken regularly.
  • Nominal maximum size of coarse aggregates shall be as large as possible within the specified limits
  • Coarse and fine aggregate mixed in such properties as to produce the best combined internal grading giving dense workable mix.
  • Admixers to modify the rate of hardening to improve workability.
We have conducted various trial mixes with specific cement content on each trial and in some cases, specially in slipform and high grade concrete, super plasticisers were used to achieve desired results.
