Air Conditioner Controller with IR Remote

  Main Features
  • Single self contained board with power supply, relays, display and RC receiver.
Fourteen key feather touch keypad with LEDs.
  • Microchip PIC Slim package microcontroller with EEPROM memory for parameter storage during power fail and power down.
  Key Functions

  • Power key - Turns on/off power to the AC [compressor+fan+swing+heater] only. Display of room temperature is constant when power is applied to the system and it is on standby.

  • Heat - Pressing this button starts the heater cycle and the compressor is turned off. Heater setting is between 28C to 40C. Operation - Press Heat button to get into program mode. The display shows the current heater set temperature. Press the up/down key to set the desired temperature. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. To exit the program mode, either press the Heat key again or wait for 10 seconds. This feature operation is the same using the remote control.

  • Cool - Pressing this button allows setting of the cool temperature[AC temp]. The AC temperature may be set between 18C to 28C. Operation - Press the Cool button to enter program mode. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. The display shows the current set temperature. Press the up/down key to set the desired temperature. To exit the program mode, either press the Cool key again or wait 10 seconds. The compressor will not turn on immediately but will wait about 3 minutes. This is a anti-recycle timer feature built in to protect the compressor.

  • Dry - Pressing this button turns the AC into a room dehumidifier. The LED goes ON indicate this mode. This mode removes the excess humidity in a room by condensing the excess moisture. The principle of operation is basically making the condenser coils cold enough to cause condensation of moisture. The fan speed is automatically set to low so as to allow condensation. The system has a operation profile built into it.

  • Compr On Timer - Pressing this button allows setting of the compressor to remain ON. However, the compressor will follow the temperature setting so it will actually cycle On and Off in this mode. The Compressor On Timer may be set between 00 Hours and 99 Hours. Operation - Press the Compressor On Timer button to enter program mode. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. The display shows the current set time. Press the up/down key to set the desired Time. To exit the program mode, either press the Compressor On Timer key again or wait 10 seconds. This setting is stored in EEPROM memory. If power fails or unit is turned off during countdown, the timer is reset and will need to be restarted.

  • Compr Off Timer - Pressing this button allows setting of the compressor to remain OFF. This timer follows the compressor ON timer key where after the compressor On timer counts down to 00, this timer is turned on. The compressor will remain off during this time even if the temperature set limits are exceeded. The Compressor Off Timer may be set between 00 Minutes and 99 Minutes. Operation - Press the Compressor Off Timer button to enter program mode. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. The display shows the current set time. Press the up/down key to set the desired Time. To exit the program mode, either press the Compressor Off Timer key again or wait 10 seconds. This setting is stored in EEPROM memory. If power fails or unit is turned off during countdown, the timer is reset and will need to be restarted.

  • Swing - This is used to turn on or off the swing motor in an airconditioner. The default mode is OFF and will need to be turned on whenever required. The LED goes On to indicate this mode. This is modifiable as per customer requiremet. Currently, this setting is not stored in memory.

  • AC off Timer - Pressing this button allows setting of the AC Off timer. This timer counts down to turn OFF the AC after the set time. However, if power fails during countdown, the remaining time is not executed and the timer will need to be restarted when power resumes. The AC off Timer may be set between 00 Hours and 99 Hours. Operation - Press the AC off Timer button to enter program mode. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. The display shows the current set time. Press the up/down key to set the desired Time. To exit the program mode, either press the AC off Timer key again or wait 10 seconds. This setting is stored in EEPROM memory. If power fails or unit is turned off during countdown, the timer is reset and will need to be restarted.

  • AC ON Timer - Pressing this button allows setting of the AC ON timer. This timer counts down to turn On the AC after the set time. The AC On Timer may be set the AC off only. The AC ON timer LED will glow when the AC is off and will count down. After the timer reaches 00, the AC will turn On. However, if power fails during countdown, the remaining time is not executed and the timer will need to be restarted when power resumes. The AC ON Timer may be set between 00 Hours and 99 Hours. Operation - Press the AC ON Timer button to enter program mode. The LED blinks to indicate programming mode. The display shows the current set time. Press the up/down key to set the desired Time. To exit the program mode, either press the AC ON Timer key again or wait 10 seconds. This setting is stored in EEPROM memory. If power fails or unit is turned off during countdown, the timer is reset and will need to be restarted.

  • Fan Hi - The fan is usually in the Automatic mode. However, by pressing this button, the fan speed is forced to the Fan Hi mode. The fan speed will remain in this mode until the AC is turned off. If the fan needs to be reset to Auto mode, the AC will need to be restarted by powering down and then up again.

  • Fan Med and Fan Low- The operation is the same as Fan Hi.
Additional requirements : This unit may be constructed in two parts. One part for the display and buttons and the second part with relays and power supply. Display will need a plastic housing and the conrol unit may be housed in a metal enclosure or within the AC. A standard IR remote controller with RC5 code output may be used.
